Gloria Campos Brown

After a 40-year career in broadcast journalism, Brown retired as a TV news anchor from WFAA-TV in Dallas in March 2014. She began her career as an intern and scholarship recipient with KGBT-TV in the Rio Grande Valley in 1974, joining the station full time after graduating from Texas State University in 1976.

In 1984, Brown accepted a general assignments reporter position with WFAA-TV in Dallas where she quickly worked her way up to news anchor for the evening broadcasts. She also produced the station’s weekly Wednesday’s Child reports for nearly 20 years.

Her extensive community involvement includes the Dallas Summit, the DFW Network of Hispanic Communicators and National Association of Hispanic Journalists. She also holds numerous recognitions and awards for her professional and community achievements. She currently serves on the Advisory Board of the College of Fine Arts and Communication at Texas State and the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association Hall of Fame, and is an honorary lifetime member of the Texas PTA.

Most recently Brown was honored by Dallas Can, which named their newest preschool, The Gloria Campos Wee Can Academy.
