A physician relations, business development manager for South Texas Health Systems, Castaneda has served in a number of sales positions in the medical and educational fields including pharmaceutical sales, physician recruiter and a territory manager in educational sales for Herff Jones and Nystrom.
In 2012, Castaneda, who was marketing director of Treasure Hill Imaging Center at the time, was appointed by then Texas Governor Rick Perry to the Advisory Council on Emergency Medical Service (EMS). She also was appointed by Gov. Perry as a Board of Regent for Texas State Technical College where she served a six-year term. She also served on the Texas State Alumni Board of Directors in 1999 and on the Texas State Hispanic Advisory Board in 1998-1999.
Castaneda received a bachelor of arts in mass communications from Texas State University in 1982 and a master of education from Texas A&M University at Corpus Christi. As a student at Texas State, she was a member of Sigma Delta Chi, the journalism fraternity, and was actively involved with KTSW Radio.
She has one son, Joseph Ryan Gonzalez.
