Dr. Patti Strickel Harrison

Harrison attended Texas State University in 1947 and 1948. Although she had planned to be a medical doctor, she also was interested in medical technology. After she earned one of the first medical technology degrees offered, she discovered her talents as an entrepreneur and formed several clinical diagnostic companies.
Texas State presented Harrison with an honorary doctoral degree in May 2013, making her the ninth individual to be so honored by the university. A member of the President’s Council, she is chair of the Pride in Action Performing Arts Pillar.
Harrison has been a key supporter of the Performing Arts Center at Texas State. She also created the Mary Jane Hamilton Memorial Presidential Endowment, the PSH Foundation Endowment in Musical Theatre and has given to the Center for Texas Music History.
